What is a nameserver?
A nameserver, in particular, “is a server on the internet specialized in handling queries regarding the location of a domain name’s various services.”
Just like when someone builds a house, the location will obtain an address in order for visitors to easily find them. When your website is created, the address, which is the domain will need to point to the server that houses the site.
Websites, which are a bunch of files sitting in a directory (folder) live on what is called a Web Server.
When you purchase a domain, you are provided access to its domain name server (DNS), so you can control how you use your domain. Typically, in order to point to your websites hosting location, you will point to the web server’s nameservers. In some cases, you will point just an A record to the server’s IP address.
